The Spread of COVID-19 in the Next Four Weeks

--- Updated on April 18, 2021

The above plot shows the cumulative positive cases observed (light red), and the predicted cumulative positive cases in 1-4 weeks (dark red) based on our model. By comparing the magnitudes of predictions and observations, as of Mar 15, we predict relatively large increase in states with high cumulative cases, like California, Texas, New York, and Florida. But in general, most states tend to slow down in our prediction.

As of April 17, our predictions show Michigan, Florida and Pennsylvania will see the fastest spread. Most of the states will see relatively slow spread.

As of Feb 7, our predictions show California and Texas will see the fastest spread. And the spread is predicted to slow down compared to previous few weeks.

As of Jan 16, our predictions show California and Texas will increase dramatically, while New York, Florida, and Georgia will also see worrisome spread.

As of Jan 8 (2021), our projections show the worrisome spread in California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and New York. California is predicted to exceed 3.5 million infected cases on Feb 5 if the trend keeps the same.

As of Jan 1 (2021), our projections show the worrisome spread in California, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, and New York. States including North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are also predicted to have fast spread.

As of Dec 17, our projections show the worrisome spread in California, Texas, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and Illinois. Especially in California, the predicted cumulative infection counts for Jan 14, based on current data, would reach 2.83 million, which is very alarming.

As of Dec 4, our projections show the worrisome spread in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, and California.

As of Nov 27, our projections show the worrisome spread in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and California.

As of Nov 19, our projections show many states are going to face fast spread but slighly slower than that predicted last week. In particular, California, Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois.

As of Nov 13, our projections show unprecedentedly fast growth in most states, in particular, California, Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois.
